Abstract

Thesis abstract of Floortje Bos’s MSc AI thesis at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. It evaluates how LLMs can turn the execution trace of a rule-based government decision into an explanation for the citizen, using graph-structured representations of the rules for the Zorgtoeslagwet, the Participatiewet and the Alcoholwet. The explanations are scored on legal grounding, faithfulness to the trace, and comprehensibility.
